Meet the Team

We have a dedicated team of experienced and knowledgeable music teachers that support our students with both whole class ensemble playing, and small group and individual lessons.

Visiting Tutor

Mr Calvert

Martin Calvert is a visiting tutor specialising in brass. He has many years of teaching experience and was the previous deputy head of YFPS. Since that time, he has worked with Plymouth University mentor team and Plymouth music hub first access teaching (WCET). Based in Liskeard, Martin is currently engaged in a number of projects across the Creative Arts including Sterts and PrimRaf youth drama groups and singers.

Mr Taylor

Mr Taylor is an experienced musician and teacher specialising in strings and piano. He delivers peripatetic lessons at YFPS as well two cello groups funded by the school.

James Uzzell

James is our peripatetic drum teacher. James also works with the Rock Project delivering ensemble workshops in guitar, bass, drums and vocals.

Paul Norley

Paul currently leads Soundhouse Brass in Plymouth. He is an extremely accomplished player and musical director with 40 year military band experience. Paul is a brass and woodwind specialist.
