Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. We have loved listening to the music of jazz greats like Louis Armstrong and George Gershwin. We have learned how to improvise our own music and how syncopation forms an integral part of the 'jazz' feel.
